It was once common practice in Africa to use army ant soldiers to close wounds. People would put the ants over the wound and they would instinctively bite down, closing the cut. The ant?s head would then be severed from its body and left on the wound until it heals. This is still practiced in some parts of the continent though it has become much rarer as hospitals have become more common.
